Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, extended hours and weekends as needed
Location: Orange Beach, Alabama / Hybrid Schedule Available

Job Summary

The Director will coordinate people-related services, policies, and programs through Human Resources team members and university leaders regarding Human Resources issues. In addition, the Director will plan, direct, and/or coordinate the operations while promoting CSU’s workplace culture, of the Human Resources department, in collaboration with the Vice President, Human Resources.

Essential Job Tasks Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Develops an employee-oriented department culture that emphasizes service, continuous improvement, and high performance and secures resources for developing the Human Resources team members, department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Maintains positive, favorable, and effective relations among all CSU employees while promoting a healthy and safe work environment, identifying opportunities for improvement, and proactively resolving discrepancies.
  • Ensures the HR Procedural Handbook is maintained.
  • Facilitates benefits administration to include open enrollment, costs/analysis monitoring, and review of monthly invoices.
  • Oversees payroll processes and the compensation structure.
  • Seeks feedback from the appropriate stakeholders to develop and administer programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the university’s strategic goals.
  • Prepares and tracks departmental budget annually; conducts a quarterly audit of expenses to ensure the budget is balanced.
  • Establishes departmental measurements (HR Metrics) that support accomplishing the university’s strategic goals and directs the preparation and maintenance of reports to track strategic goal accomplishment to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and benefits administration.
  • Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep Vice President, Human Resources informed of new developments.
  • Promotes and enhances workplace culture within the Human Resources department and the university.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Knowledge

  • English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Computer – Knowledge of basic computer processes including word processing, web browsing, and Microsoft Office, including Basic Microsoft Excel.
  • Personnel and Human Resources – Knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and HR information systems.
  • Administration and Management – Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Education and Training – Knowledge of principles and methods for training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or related field and three to five years of experience in Human Resources.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of leadership and management responsibilities required.
  • HR Certifications preferred.

 

Equipment Used

Office equipment including computers, telephones, printers, faxes, and copiers.
Software used includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internal database software.
Secure and reliable internet is required for this position.
