Senior Sales Manger for Destination Marketing Organization

The Senior Sales Manager is responsible for promoting Alabama’s Beaches as a premier destination for meetings and conventions. This role focuses on generating leads and securing bookings that drive economic impact through overnight stays and visitor spending in the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach as well as unincorporated Fort Morgan. The Senior Sales Manager builds strong relationships with meeting planners, travel professionals, and local industry partners to position the destination competitively in the meetings market. Additionally, this individual manages/supervises meeting sales managers and/or coordinators and works with the communications and marketing manager to create sales materials and develop strategic and marketing plans.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       College degree required (business, hospitality, marketing, etc.)

·       5+ years hotel/CVB convention sales and servicing experience preferred

·       Working knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM systems

·       Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills

·       Ability to travel and work nights and weekends as needed for sales missions, trade shows, and client meetings

·        Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team

·       Access to dependable transportation and carry a current drivers’ license

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Familiarity with Alabama’s Beaches tourism environment and industry partners

·       Involvement and/or familiarity with industry organizations (PCMA, MPI, ACAE, LSAE, MSAE)

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·       Develop and execute strategic sales plans to attract meetings and conventions to Alabama’s Beaches

·       Identify and pursue new business opportunities across market segments (association, corporate, SMERF, government)

·       Represent the CVB at trade shows, sales missions, and industry events to promote the destination as a premier meeting destination

·       Maintain accurate records in the CRM system for organizations, contacts, and leads

·       Collaborate with communications and marketing manager to align sales efforts with promotional campaigns and audiences

·       Build and maintain strong relationships with meeting planners, travel professionals, and local industry partners

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Respond to inquiries, solicit potential clients, and make sales calls for groups/meetings across market segments

·       Distribute leads to local industry partners for qualified groups/meetings and follow up with the clients and industry partners to ensure timely and complete responses to the clients

·       Work with communications and marketing manager to prepare customized proposals and bid presentations

·       Work with communications and marketing manager to create sales materials and develop strategic and marketing plans

·       Track leads, bookings, and economic impact metrics to evaluate sales effectiveness

·       Provide sales forecasts and regular reports highlighting key performance metrics and areas for improvement

·       Utilize data analytics to identify trends and opportunities for sales optimization

·       Coordinate and conduct site visits and familiarization (FAM) tours for prospective clients

·       Meet and exceed quarterly sales goals

·       Assist in the development and management of the annual sales budget and sales goals

·       Stay informed on industry trends, competitor destinations, and local developments

·       Provide complimentary convention services to clients

·       Participate in community and partner meetings to advocate for tourism development

·       Manage/supervise current or potential meeting sales managers and/or coordinators

·       Other duties as assigned
